Connect the USB flash drive to a new PC. Turn on the PC and press the key that opens the boot-device selection menu for the computer, such as the Esc/F10/F12 keys. Select the option that boots the PC from the USB flash drive. Windows Setup starts. Follow the instructions to install Windows. Remove the USB flash drive. Troubleshooting: file copy. After finishing changing the registry key, you should reboot your PC and check if you can install Windows on a USB drive. Solution 2: Mark Partition Active If you try to install a fresh copy of Windows on your PC, this solution is highly useful.
Hello, I'm currently attempting to boot Gentoo from an external hard drive that made into a live USB (as per the instruction guide on the site) so that I can dual-boot from it when my laptop starts up.
I hold the escape key on boot up, and get to device selection screen. I've tried first selecting my USB as a startup device, which doesn't work, then I select to start from UFI(Or UEF, I can't remember at the moment), then I navigate to a folder labelled 'boot' and select the amdx64.efi file.
No matter what I do I get the message 'system boot image did not authenticate'. I'm very new to Linux and don't know much about what I am doing. I had originally burned Xubuntu to the external drive using Rufus and Unetbootin as practice, and was successful. When I go to select the boot device I can still still the ubuntu option, even tho I burned the Gentoo .iso using Rufus.
I've also disabled secure boot, enabled legacy support, and disabled fast startup.
Doing this on an HP Omen, running with Windows 10 as mentioned in the title.
Any help with fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
